ZINC ANODES TO CONTROL BRIDGE DECK DETERIORATION

This report described a field investigation of the use of sacrificial zinc ribbon anodes to cathodically protect the reinforcing steel in a bridge deck, thus controlling spalling. After 3 years the zinc anodes were found to be capable of protecting only a three inch (7.62 cm) wide strip each side of the anodes.
