POST-YIELD REDISTRIBUTION OF MOMENTS AND ANALYSIS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONTINUOUS SLAB-ON-GIRDER BRIDGES
Composite concrete slab steel girder bridges have been used as medium span highway bridges for at least the past fifty years. The economics of these bridges depends on composite action between the concrete deck and the steel girders with consequent distribution of the load across the width of the bridge and along the length for continuous bridges. The project discussed in this paper sought to obtain a data set of post-yield behavior of these bridges and to study the post-yield redistribution of the longitudinal positive and negative moments.
