SIX-FIGURE SAVINGS WITH MMS IMPLEMENTATION AND CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT TOO!

In Charlotte County, Florida, located along the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida, the implementation of a new stormwater maintenance system proved highly successful. This Innovative Maintenance Management System (MMS) generated considerable savings within its first six months of operation, minimizing the costs of monitoring and repairs. The system is used to inventory facilities, create budgets and schedules and to track the costs and productivity for these activities, as well as to track maintenance support services such as surveying and mapping, stormwater engineering and traffic engineering. It allows officials to focus on the most pressing issues and get things done more quickly. In addition, the county's citizen advisor committee is able to identify and implement changes more smoothly than before using reports generated by MMS.
