This first updated version gives some recommendations for the design and control of anchored sheet pile structures. It is based on the limit state design method outlined in Circular No. 7-145, dated 19th December 1971: "Common Directives Relating to Structural Design". The following topics are considered: (1) various types of anchored sheet piles; (2) behaviour of these structures (simple passive earth pressure, restraint system, axial stresses); (3) stresses applied to sheet piles (permanent, normal and accidental stresses), and their characteristic value; (4) recommended design and control method; (5) recommendations for the design of sheet pile structures. /TRRL/
