PERFORMANCE OF CULVERT MATERIALS IN VARIOUS COLORADO ENVIRONMENTS
This report describes various soil and water environments in Colorado in which culvert pipe materials have been placed. The performance of these pipe materials has been observed, recorded and reported. Results of laboratory tests on culvert materials are also reported. Some conclusions and recommendations are made for implementation and future evaluations. Culvert materials listed from the most susceptible to corrosion are standard galvanized, stainless steel, concept Type II and asbestos bonded asphalt dipped. Those materials showing little or negligible corrosion are transite, plastic, aluminum and concrete Type V. Concrete made with Type V cement is the most resistant of the concrete materials to alkali conditions. /Author/
