POLLUTION PREVENTION THROUGH EDUCATION, ENFORCEMENT
Helping to prevent pollution of local lakes, rivers and coastal waters is an important obligation of the recreational boating community. The best way to help the environment is through prevention, and education and enforcement are the best prevention tools. This article discusses some of the regulations applicable to recreational boaters that are required by the Coast Guard, the states and other partners. These regulations address oil pollution, improper discharge of garbage and untreated sewage discharge from vessels.
