CORROSION PROTECTION IN RNZN PATROL CRAFT

This Paper describes the corrosion protection used in the four British-built 33-m patrol boats in use with the Royal New Zealand Navy. All internal surfaces up to lower deck level, the upper deck and bulwarks etc. were zinc sprayed after abrasive blasting. All zinc sprayed surfaces were subsequently coated with chlorinated rubber to DEF. Spec. 1402. The Paper further describes the treatment given to all the other areas of the vessels including operational surfaces. The treatment during the construction stages is also described.
