DYNA--A NEW FAMILY OF CONTROLS
The demand for precise prime mover controls has caused a re-evaluation of power control system design. This has resulted in the identification of a number of critical requirements, which in turn has led to the development, design, and production of a family of power controls and associated systems known as DYNA. A Proportional, Integral and Derivative (PID) control with fast speed of response has been developed and applied to a wide variety of engines. It yields up to 30% improvement in transient performance over conventional PI isochronous governor systems. The principal phases of design and development of the DYNA systems are presented, with comments on field experience and the resulting design experience. Order from: BSRA as No. 47,542.
