USING THE GROUP DIALOG MACHINE TO AID THE CONDUCT OF THE CITIZEN PARTICIPATION ELEMENT OF THE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING PROCESS: SOME CASE STUDIES AND PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT

The Group Dialog machine, an electronic device that collects and displays responses from a group, is applied to a variety of citizen participation situations typically encountered by transportation planning agencies. The general objective is to assess the effect that the use of the GDM has on the quality of the dialog in these situations. Over forty demonstrations were conducted during a nine month period and five of those are described briefly using a case study format. /GMRL/
