USE OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAG IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION

FOLOSIREA ZGURELOR DE FURNAL INALT LA CONSTRUCTIRA DRUMURILOR DIN TORA NOASTRA

After conducting a detailed study of the physical and chemical composition of blast furnace slag and of the mixtures in which they are used, the authors conclude that there exist many possibilities of utilizing ordinary and granulated slag in road construction. The various applications mentioned are: construction of subbase (raw slag, chemical composition, petrographic and mineralogical characteristics, stability, physicomechanical characteristics, laying of subbases); construction of pavements (chemical composition, particle size distribution, compaction, chemical activity). Utilization of granulated slag in the preparation of asphaltic concrete, particle size distribution, mix design, physicomechanical characteristics of the mixture, laying. /TRRL/
