TOWARDS TOTAL MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT (TMM) IN AUSTRIAN FEDERAL ROAD ADMINISTRATION
Discussion on a Pavement Management System (PMS) started in Austria in 1977. The first model was presented in 1987. The implementation phase was initiated in 1991 with the first systematic road condition assessments. The first expansion step towards Total Maintenance Management (TMM) - to include bridges as well as tunnels - was taken in 1995. Step 2, started in 1998, led to the inclusion of all other major engineering structures, i.e. retaining walls, anchor walls, noise protection structures, sign bridges. TMM is a modular system consisting of different single components, many of which are already finished and operative. Some of these components are currently under construction and about to be filled with facts and data. This report provides an up-to-date survey on Austrian Maintenance Management. For the covering abstract see ITRD E108018.
