COMMENTS ON VIBRATING ROLLERS
REFLEXIONS SUR LES ROULEAUX VIBRANTS
The aim of this article is (1) to list the various models of vibrating roller available, proposing a classification based on the morphological character of the rollers, (2) using the conclusions of the expomat 1974 conference IRRD no. 103287), to study and comment on certain important aspects of compaction with this type of machine. The classification is divided into seven categories: (1) towed single-roll machine; (2) self-propelled single-roll machine; (3) single-roll self propelled roller; (4) tandem rollers (5) mixed vibrating and pneumatic-tyred roller; (6) duplex rollers (7) combination of machines; in the second part the influence on the compaction of the following parameters is studied: relationship between the suspended mass and the vibrating mass, frequency, velocity and number of passes, fields of use. /TRRL/
