ACCELERATED SULPHATE DURABILITY TESTS ON CEMENT
AKSELERERT PROEVNING AV CEMENTERS SULFATBESTANDIGHET
A new test method for sulphate resistance of cements is described. Cubes made of water-cement paste with a high percentage of voids are cured for 7 days at 50 degrees C before they are exposed to a sodium sulphate solution (6.2 ph) for 28 days. The following compression test changes in the registered compressive strength indicate the sulphate durability of the cement. The method is described as simple, rapid, and in fairly good conformity with practical experience and therefore acceptable for the time being. In order to improve the reliability of the method the influence of various testing parameters is to be further studied. Results of immersion tests with various cements are also presented along with corresponding chemical analyses. /TRRL/
