VEHICULES ELECTRIQUES. SITUATION ACTUELLE ET PERSPECTIVES

The experimental use of electric vehicles in urban areas has proved successful, and the author describes their advantages as regards the improvement they bring in the quality of urban life. Current performance ensures a level of service for public and private transport similar to that provided by thermal-engined vehicles; the disadvantages of electric vehicles are that they can only be used over short distances and for very specific purposes. The use of electric vehicles should increase so that, during the ten-year period 1980-1990, they should take over a large part of the vehicle market. /TRRL/
