THE DYNAMICS OF VARIOUSLY FIXED BEAMS UNDER MOVING LOADS

DINAMICA DI TRAVI VARIAMENTE VINCOLATE SOTTO CARICHI VIAGGIANTI

In this paper the LaPlace integral equation and the Fourier finite generalised equation, are used to determine the dynamic response in terms of free and forced oscillations, of trusses and hyperstatic beams subjected to moving loads. The study concerns the movement of traffic on highway bridges, and in the case of trusses, localised impacts in time and space (such as would result from a wheel moving over an irregularity in the pavement surface), are also evaluated. The numerical solutions presented apply to beams subjected to a single moving load, as well as to trusses with abutting free ends subjected to one or more moving loads, thus simulating the passage of a vehicle. /TRRL/
