RAPID TESTING OF CONCRETE
SNABBPROVNING AV BETONG
By placing test cubes in boiling water after removal from the mould at 22 hours, they can be tested at an age of 26 hours, and will predict with acceptable accuracy whether the concrete will have the specified strength when tested at 28 days. The production programme is as follows: up to an age of 22 hours after the cubes are made, they are to be stored under wet sacking at 20 plus or minus 2 degrees C. They are to be removed from the mould at 22 hours and placed in boiling water for 3.5 hours. At 25.5 hours they are to be taken out of the boiling water and stored for 0.5 hour completely enclosed in plastics foil. At 26 hours the foil is to be removed and the cubes placed on a grid so that uniform drying takes place. Testing is to be carried out at an age of 26 hours 10 minutes after the batch from which the third cube was taken had been mixed. /TRRL/
