THE YEAR OF RO-RO

Recent trends have shown an increase in the use of ro-ro techniques in vessels of increasing size, particularly cargo only and vehicle carrier types. Descriptions of the types of vessels used are provided. Advantages of the system are discussed and the increased use of the system in the Middle East is analyzed. The need for vessels to carry their own unloading equipment is noted.
