ANALYSIS OF A QUESTIONNAIRE ON THE SERVICE PERFORMANCE OF CRUSHED ROCK AND AGGREGATE
The analysis shows that deterioration of crushed rock used for unbound roadbase and aggregate used for bituminous surface treatments is a significant problem in Australia. Rock types which show deterioration are dominantly basic volcanic and intrusive rocks (which are perhaps the most important source rocks), alluvial gravels, acid volcanics, pyroclastics, and to minor extent, sedimentary rocks and hornfels are also mentioned. Deterioration was reported for all conditions of traffic, climate and drainage.
