The article is a useful contribution to the search for adequate solutions to the problem of running safety for modern guided transport systems. It summarises the principles of running safety and describes, in this connection, the fail-safe technique with one or several channels and the risk concept. The authors also examine the problems that must be taken into consideration when introducing new principles for train running safety.
