STATE-OF-THE-ART: BRIDGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
The author summarizes the conclusions of three recent projects in Bridge Management Systems. He then discusses research needs relating to the topic at hand. The research needs include the following subject headings: future needs for bridges, remaining life, bridge costs, cost-effectiveness of bridge activities, optimization models, benefit/cost analysis, fatigue life of bridges, rating and routing, bridge management systems for mainframe computers, and artificial intelligence.
