VERTICAL DISTRIBUTION OF TRAFFIC NOISE - A PRELIMINARY STUDY

A preliminary study on the vertical distribution of traffic noise in a high-rise city, Hong Kong, is reported. The tall building of the present investigation was a 24 storey building. One side of the building investigated was within a closed environment i.e. 2 sides of the road were flanked by buildings. Outdoor and indoor noise levels were obtained with a bruel and kjaer sound level meter with a 1 inch microphone. The results of the investigation show that a lower rate of reduction of noise level for a wider road (35 m) is observed. /TRRL/
