ON THE DIMENSIONAL HOMOGENEITY OF THE ROCK CUTTING EQUATION. TECHNICAL NOTE
In the note the equation for rock cutting is discussed by means of dimensional analysis. It is concluded that if the assumption of the mechanical similarity of rock cutting is to be valid, the cutting force must be proportional to the product of the depth of cut and the width of blade (sweeping area of cutting tool) for constant ratio of the depth of cut to the width of blade. /TRRL/
