PROBABILISTIC-BASED ASSESSMENT OF A LARGE STEEL BASCULE BRIDGE AND A CONCRETE SLAB BRIDGE
An individual bridge approach applying probabilistic-based assessment is presented as a part of the standard methodology for administration of bridge safety of the Danish Road Directorate. The basic steps of the approach are presented and exemplified in two practical cases, assessment of the load carrying capacity of a large steel bascule bridge and a concrete slab bridge. The latter demonstrates the benefits of combining probabilistic-based analysis with plastic limit state analysis. The approaches have already saved large costs from avoided strengthening projects. For the covering abstract see ITRD E106406.
