ESTIMATION OF SHIFT PARAMETER OF HEADWAY DISTRIBUTIONS USING CROSSCORRELATION FUNCTION METHOD
In this paper, the authors present a crosscorrelation function method for estimating shift parameters of traffic headway distributions. Characterizing the probability distribution of vehicle headways is critical to autonomous intelligent cruise control (AICC). The authors compare the crosscorrelation function method with a simple shift model and it is shown that the crosscorrelation function method is able to consider the effect of shift value on the estimated parameters of density function. The authors conclude that this method shows advantages over random selection of shift parameter.
