The author discusses recent methods of tunnel maintenance, repair and renewal, with special emphasis on such operations as injection under pressure, draining of inner surface of tunnels, jointing of the masonry and concrete injecting. A special chapter is devoted to the relationship between tunnel work and the organization of rail transport operations.
