DRIVING SAN PABLO AVE. : A SYNCHRONIZED SPIN
This article describes plans for synchronizing traffic signals along a 20-mile stretch through nine cities in the San Francisco East Bay area. Officials believe that these efforts will lead to as much as a 20 percent reduction in commute times. Satellite-linked global positioning system (GPS) technology will be used, allowing bus controllers to track bus locations from a central command center.
