TESTING OF THE SHAPE OF ROADS
A modified U.S. Bureau of Public Roads type roughometer is described. Experience with the roughometer in recent years is included and it is noted that some features of its performance remain unresolved. Predicting equations for present serviceability index have been developed for use in the current roughness testing. An improved electronic recording system to enable the results of roughness tests to be processed efficiently by computer is outlined. A modified version of a NAASRA Roughness Meter has also been used and some tests to compare the outputs of the two devices are presented. /Author/
