SKID RESISTANCE OF STEELWORKS SLAGS AS ROAD SURFACING STONE
Blast furnace slag compositions of varying porosity and containing additions of bauxite, ilmenite and basic oxygen steelmaking slags of varying porosity have been examined to evaluate their potential as road surfacing stone. Polished Stone Value and Los Angeles Abrasion Test Value have been used to assess the ability of steelworks slags to produce a roadstone with high skid resistance and low rate of wear. The results of these tests are reported. None of the modified blast furnace slags performed as well as the unmodified basic oxygen steelmaking slags tested. /Author/
