PRACTICAL VIBRATION PRIMER 4. PHASE AND BASIC BALANCING
Phase measurements are generally the least performed and yet the most necessary in vibration studies. Phase measure is important when the problem is not too obvious. Phase measures can be used to determine whether a foundation plate or section of piping is in phase with a running machine. The following two topics are discussed with the aid of mathematical equations: Lissajous or orbit measure, and balancing (balancing without phase measure, and balancing using the orbit).
