This paper assesses the acoustical impact of the proposed thoroughfare on the neighboring community, and the following analyses were undertaken in the noise study: Review of criteria for roadway noise levels. Determination of existing ambient noise levels in the City of Winnipeg and in particular, the Fort Garry-St. Vital transportation corridor. Verification and selection of a highway noise prediction model. Prediction of roadway-generated noise level for alternative roadway plans. Assessment of predicted noise levels with standard and ambient noise levels. Identification of noise abatement measures to reduce noise impact. /RTAC/
