The question of whether the diesel engine is the most suitable substitute for the conventional motor can not be answered at present. On some points there are not enough data available, but it is clear that the diesel engine, the stratified charge-motor and the methanol motor all have attractive qualities. Further development is therefore appropriate. /TRRL/
