THE USE OF PLASTICS IN FORMATION AND TUNNEL WORK ON THE DB

After a brief review of plastics used in building work, the author describes the application of various plastics products in earth, formation and tunnel works on the DB. In earth and formation work these include PVC drain piping and sheeting, rigid foam boarding and fleece mats; in tunnel construction, various sheetings and seals of synthetic rubber. Not all these products have so far given convincing results.
