CREATING BETTER CONTRACTS
The author discusses the design work of a contract in dredging industry and stresses that enough cross sections and borings of the areas to be dredged should be taken to determine the quantity and quality of the material to be dredged. The positions of all bridges, jetties, piers, overhead and submarine cables, and all other objects that might restrict the dredging should be precisely located. Hydraulic characteristics and tidal currents should be determined.
