BRIDGES THAT TAKE YOU TO NEW YORK - SLOWLY
This article gives an overview of current bridge reconstruction projects in New York City. The simultaneous rehabilitation of bridges including the George Washington Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge, the Third Avenue Bridge and the Triborough Bridge has meant closed lanes and slowed traffic for countless commuters. Most frustrating of these, perhaps, is the Manhattan Bridge, which is now 14 years behind schedule. The Long Island Expressway's New York State Department of Transportation project, which includes the rebuilding of 27 bridges, is so complex that its cost cannot even be estimated.
