TRANSPORTATION IN UNIVERSITY COMMUNITIES : PARKING AND AUTOMOBILE POLICIES AND PRACTICES
This article presents the results of a survey of parking and automobile policies and practices in effect at university campuses. Focus of the survey was to examine policy, land use, and the supporting environments that allow for successful transit operations. The survey looked at : 1) demand/supply ratios for parking on- and off-campus; 2) parking and automobile policies related automobile ownership restrictions, cashout policies, enforcement off campus, and off-campus neighborhood parking permit programs; and, 3) parking fee structures for students living on- and off-campus, faculty, and staff.
