NONDESTRUCTIVE ASPHALT COMPACTION TESTING
ISPITIVANJE ZBIJENOSTI ASFALTA NERAZORNOM METODOM
The basic principles of nondestructive asphalt density measurement based on gamma-ray absorption are given. Testing results have indicated a good correlation between the nuclear and the conventional method for asphalt density determination. This has made practical application of the nuclear method possible in the process of asphalt course compaction, i.e., provides a means for the determination of the optimum degree of compaction. A practical example is discussed, and a functional relationship established between the relative degree of compaction and the number of passes and the roller types.(a) /TRRL/
