REPLY TO "COMMENT ON CELLULAR AUTOMATA MODEL SIMULATING TRAFFIC INTERACTIONS BETWEEN ON-RAMP AND MAIN ROAD
In this reply to a comment of a paper with the aforementioned title, published in this journal, the authors state their agreement that the characteristics of a phase diagram are dictated by the prescribed asymmetric rules of on ramps. The authors further point out that the existence of the 4 regions for v/sub max/> 1 is due to the rule in the case of t/sub a/=t/sub b/ and the rule that 2 cars can occupy the same site successively in 1 time step. It is further argued that existence of the stable limit cycles in region IV is the property of the deterministic on-ramp system, and is not the cause of the formation of region IV.
