DE-ICING APPARATUS FOR SHIPS
Describes a pneumatic de-icing system consisting of a flexible tube, or tubes contained in a rubber sleeve. When ice forms, pressurized air is introduced, the tube expands and produces tensile stress on the ice. Results of tests of the device and of Parafil ropes (Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd), are noted.
