SECTION MARKED FOR SAFETY : REAUTHORIZATION OF TEA-21 CONTAINS WORK- ZONE FUNDING PACKAGE
The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) has been directing its efforts at getting Congress to focus on safety as a key element of reauthorization of Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21). The article discusses how the Roadway Safety and Congestion Mitigation Improvement Act (H.R. 288) is focused on areas such as: older driver roadway safety, sign and pavement marking management systems, run-off-road mitigation, pedestrian and bicycle safety, intersection safety, and work-zone safety The association, through its various programs such as the annual Traffic Expo, the ATSSA Foundation, Training Department, and Roadway Safety Training Institute, is actively promoting the advancement of roadway safety.
