VISUAL AIDS INCREASE TRAINING IMPACT AND VALUE
Modern technology has reduced the cost and simplified the use of visual aids for training and general communication. The objective of this article is to provide plant engineering and maintenance managers a better understanding of technological advances in visual aids and how visual aids can be used effectively. The types of visual aids discussed include: 35 mm slides; video tapes; audio cassettes; motion pictures; overheads, flip charts; models. Visual aids should be used for a specific and defined purpose, not merely because they are attractive. They should be selected in terms of the participants' experience. Care should be taken that the material is close enough to the viewer's experience to be readily assimilated, and that the manner of presentation is understandable.
