INNOVATION, CAPABILITIES AND COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE IN NORWEGIAN SHIPPING
The shipping industry in Norway must be more innovative in order to build its competitiveness and sustain its place in the transport network. A major issue in this area of research is how the industry can develop and maintain innovation and competition in the international maritime system. The aim of this paper is to discuss the conclusion reached in prior research that shipping companies must improve their skills and competencies in a stronger interplay between organizations within and from without the maritime cluster. This may increase the total capability and innovation within the industry and create distinct competitive advantages that are difficult to imitate.
