THE MODELLING OF PLATOONING TENDENCIES IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT
This article sets out the causes of vehicle platooning in A public transport system which operates without a fixed schedule. It demonstrates that the traditional model is inadequate in such cases. An alternative model based on A Markov chain is presented and both models compared with A simulation. It is shown that simulation must be adopted once near-even spacing of the vehicles is lost.(a) /TRRL/
