VICTORIA SORTS OUT RAIL PRIVATISATION FAILURE
The state government of Victoria, Australia, privatized Melbourne's heavy and light rail networks to cut costs and increase investment in the systems. The measure was applauded by its supporters as a good example of the benefits of privatization. The article examines the reasons for the collapse of the franchising process which is occurring just four years later.
