NON-DESTRUCTIVE VIBRATION TESTING OF PILES
KONTROL AF FUNDERINGSPAELE VED IKKE-DESTRUKTIV VIBRATIONSTEST
This paper presents a short description of the principles and the instrumentation which, based on the mechanical principles of impedance, gives the background of a qualitative judgement of driven concrete piles and in situ piles. By registration of the vibration velocity in a pile which is affected by an electrodynamic vibrator, it is possible to detect defects which in course or time will affect the bearing capacity of the pile. The method is suggested as a supplement to the ordinary pile loading test. It is applicable both to end-bearing piles and friction piles. Results of tests of prefabricated concrete piles after completed driving are presented. /TRRL/
