THE TRUE TRIAXIAL APPARATUS
TERNINGEAPPARATET
In the true triaxial apparatus presented, the second principal stress can be varied independently. The sample is initially a cube and deforms during the test with fixed directions of the principal stresses and strains. The stresses are applied by means of three pairs of rigid and smooth pressure heads. The apparatus is based on principles developed at Cambridge, but is further developed and can now be used to test undisturbed samples of clay or sand. /TRRL/
