HUMAN FACTORS AND TRANSPORT
This paper considers the relationship between the type and structure of a transport enterprise or authority and the situation of the staff employed. The staffing structure and administration of road haulage, bus, and railway services in European countries is reviewed, and trends in productivity per man-hour are analysed. The lack of statistics and documentation on this subject is pointed out, as is the need to consider the social implications of economic and financial decisions taken at employer level or above. /TRRL/
