FABRICATION OF LIGHT BRIDGE STRUCTURES

This is a description of the fabrication of steel girders for a light bridge on trunk road A9 at Carrbridge, Inverness-shire. The length of the girders required necessitated the incorporation of splices in the flange and web plates. Details are given of the welding involved with a description of the jig set up for this to be carried out automatically. Reference is made to the quality control requirements and the procedure for erection of the bridge. /TRRL/
