A MULTI-MEDIA APPROACH TO TRAVELER INFORMATION
Through a wide-ranging campaign, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and its local agency partners have succeeded in providing comprehensive real-time travel information to the public. This program consists of en-route and pre-trip information using Variable Message Signs, Highway Advisory Radio, the Internet, broadcast radio, broadcast television, web-enabled devices, and a 511 travel advisory telephone system. These various media reach a large portion of the traveling public in the Salt Lake area, and are being deployed through a variety of public-financed projects and public-private partnerships.
