SULPHUR CONCRETES GO COMMERCIAL
The manufacture of sulfur concrete (sulfurcrete) for precast and field pour operations is described and the details are briefly outlined of its characteristics, applications, and advantage. Sulfur with proprietary additives is mixed with dried heated aggregate and poured into molds for precast products or transported hot for field-poured applications. Compressive strengths of sulfurcrete are generally higher than those of portland cement concretes. The impact resistance of sulfurcrete may be improved by addition of small amounts of chopped glass fiber. It also has better insulating properties, is resistant to attack by acids or salts, but has poor fire resistance.
