COMPENDIUM OF FREIGHT INFORMATION
Goods movement in the New York metropolitan area is an increasingly important issue as regional agencies and businesses struggle to deal with a growing list of challenges, including traffic congestion, channel depth, inadequate facilities, and a number of logistical problems. These problems challenge the delivery and movement of goods and drive up the cost of doing business in the New York metropolitan area. This compendium was prepared as a resource for members of the public who are interested in goods movement in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. The information compiled in this report is intended as an overview of the region's important assets and the activity they generate. It contains information on various aspects of the area's freight activities and facilities, and includes a list of recent studies and publications on freight issues in the region. The transportation modes addressed include trucking, rail, air, waterborne transportation; and their intermodal connections.
